Fatigue features study on the crankshaft material of 42CrMo steel using acoustic emission

Crankshaft is regarded as an important component of engines, and it is an important application of remanufacturing because of its high added value. However, the fatigue failure research of remanufactured crankshaft is still in its primary stage. Thus, monitoring and investigating the fatigue failure of the remanufacturing crankshaft is crucial. In this paper, acoustic emission (AE) technology and machine vision are used to monitor the four-point bending fatigue of 42CrMo, which is the material of crankshaft. The specimens are divided into two categories, namely, pre-existing crack and non-pre-existing crack, which simulate the crankshaft and crankshaft blank, respectively. The analysis methods of parameter-based AE techniques, wavelet transform (WT) and SEM analysis are combined to identify the stage of fatigue failure. The stage of fatigue failure is the basis of using AE technology in the field of remanufacturing crankshafts. The experiment results show that the fatigue crack propagation style is a transgranular fracture and the fracture is a brittle fracture. The difference mainly depends on the form of crack initiation. Various AE signals are detected by parameter analysis method. Wavelet threshold denoising and WT are combined to extract the spectral features of AE signals at different fatigue failure stages.

An Exploration of Surface Integrity Remanufacturing for Aeroengine Components

摘要: Surface integrity is the major factor impacting on the operation quality, service life and reliability of the aeroengine components. The surface integrity of aeroengine component is damaged by the failures such as crack, deformation, oxidation, corrosion, erosion, and microstructural degeneration. It adopts advanced remanufacturing technologies to restore or improve the surface integrity and regenerate these high value parts. This paper firstly puts forward the concept, namely surface integrity remanufacturing for aeroengine components, and its connotation. The key remanufacturing technologies have been developed to repair the components with surface damages. Ultimately, some application examples of surface integrity remanufacturing technologies as well as their effects in aeroengine maintenance are introduced. The discarded components have been reused and their service lives have been extended and their reliability has been increased by implementing surface integrity remanufacturing. It has realized “The Repaired Components Outpacing the New Ones”, material saving, energy saving, and emission reduction.

Managing Coordination Complexity in the Remanufacturing of Aircraft Engines

摘要: The complexity of communication and coordination stemming from teams responsible for adjusting interdependent parameters of components is a fundamental feature in the aircraft engine remanufacturing engineering project. To manage coordination complexity, the features of the remanufacturing process of aircraft engine are analyzed and a systematic method is presented to measure and optimize the dependency between coupled components. Furthermore, quantitative models are built based on Design Structure Matrix (DSM) models to measure dependency strengths related to the parameter features of the components. Also, a two-stage DSM clustering criteria is used to reduce the complexity of an organization. An industrial example is provided to illustrate the proposed models. The results showed that the proposed approach can reduce total coordination complexity.

Mechanical properties of vanadium-alloyed austempered ductile iron for crankshaft applications

摘要: This study focused on the development of austempered ductile iron (ADI) with desirable combination of mechanical properties for crankshaft applications by the combined effect of vanadium (V) alloying and an optimized heat treatment process. The produced unalloyed GGG60, 0.15% V-alloyed GGG60 (V-15), and 0.30% V-alloyed GGG60 samples were subjected to austenitizing at 900 °C for 1 h and subsequent austempering processes at 250, 300, and 350 °C for 15, 30, 60, 90, and 180 min. As a result of these austempering processes, different bainitic structures were obtained, which led to the formation of diverse combinations of mechanical properties. The mechanical properties of the austempered samples were tested comprehensively, and the results were correlated with their microstructures and the stability of the retained austenite phases. From the microstructural observations, the V-alloyed samples exhibited a finer microstructure and a more acicular ferrite phase than unalloyed samples. The V addition delayed the coarsening of the acicular ferrite structures and considerably contributed to the improvement of the mechanical properties of GGG60. Moreover, the X-ray diffraction results revealed that the retained austenite volume and the carbon enrichment of austenite phases in ADI samples were remarkably affected by the addition of vanadium. The increase in volume fraction of retained austenite and its carbon content provided favorable ductility and toughness to V-15, as confirmed by the elongation and impact test results. Consequently, the dual-phase ausferrite microstructure of V-15 that was austempered at 300 °C for 60 min exhibited high strength with substantial ductility and toughness for crankshaft applications.

A novel approach for remanufacturing process planning considering uncertain and fuzzy information

摘要: Remanufacturing, as one of the optimal disposals of end-of-life products, can bring tremendous economic and ecological benefits. Remanufacturing process planning is facing an immense challenge due to uncertainties and fuzziness of recoverable products in damage conditions and remanufacturing quality requirements. Although researchers have studied the influence of uncertainties on remanufacturing process planning, very few of them comprehensively studied the interactions among damage conditions and quality requirements that involve uncertain, fuzzy information. Hence, this challenge in the context of uncertain, fuzzy information is undertaken in this paper, and a method for remanufacturing process planning is presented to maximize remanufacturing efficiency and minimize cost. In particular, the characteristics of uncertainties and fuzziness involved in the remanufacturing processes are explicitly analyzed. An optimization model is then developed to minimize remanufacturing time and cost. The solution is provided through an improved Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy neural network (T-S FNN) method. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is exemplified and elucidated by a case study. Results show that the training speed and accuracy of the improved T-S FNN method are 23.5% and 82.5% higher on average than those of the original method, respectively.

摘要: Using the theory of human blood circulation system, the authors explore the importance of remanufacturing in Industry 4.0. In this paper, they draw analogies between smart factory and human heart, between smart products and blood, and, between product function and nutrition and oxygen in the blood. Remanufacturing is analogous to the ingestion of oxygen and nutrition in lesser circulation or systemic circulation. Remanufacturing well supports recycling production, which is significant in realizing intelligent industry. Furthermore, this paper discusses the development direction of remanufacturing engineering in Industry 4.0 ages.

The Application and the Prospect of Remanufacturing Technologies in the Metallurgical Industry

摘要: Metallurgical equipment is subjected to severe working conditions and the components suffer from various types of physical damages such as abrasion, corrosion and crack. Advanced surface engineering technologies and resistant coatings on the damaged surface can improve surface properties, extend service lives, reduce maintenance costs and improve product quality in the metallurgical industry. This paper introduces remanufacturing technologies, including electroplating, overlaying welding, thermal spraying and laser surface cladding and their applications in the metallurgical industry, and analyzes the development tendency and prospect of remanufacturing technologies.

Damage mechanism and evaluation model of compressor impeller remanufacturing blanks: A review

摘要: The theoretical and technological achievements in the damage mechanism and evaluation model obtained through the national basic research program “Key Fundamental Scientific Problems on Mechanical Equipment Remanufacturing” are reviewed in this work. Large centrifugal compressor impeller blanks were used as the study object. The materials of the blanks were FV520B and KMN. The mechanism and evaluation model of ultra-high cycle fatigue, erosion wear, and corrosion damage were studied via theoretical calculation, finite element simulation, and experimentation. For ultra-high cycle fatigue damage, the characteristics of ultra-high cycle fatigue of the impeller material were clarified, and prediction models of ultra-high cycle fatigue strength were established. A residual life evaluation technique based on the “ - - ” (where was the nonlinear parameter, was the Vickers hardness, and was the fatigue life) double criterion method was proposed. For erosion wear, the flow field of gas-solid two-phase flow inside the impeller was simulated, and the erosion wear law was clarified. Two models for erosion rate and erosion depth calculation were established. For corrosion damage, the electrochemical and stress corrosion behaviors of the impeller material and welded joints in H S/CO environment were investigated. (critical stress intensity factor) and d /d (crack growth rate, where is the total crack length and is time) varied with H S concentration and temperature, and their variation laws were revealed. Through this research, the key scientific problems of the damage behavior and mechanism of remanufacturing objects in the multi-strength field and cross-scale were solved. The findings provide theoretical and evaluation model support for the analysis and evaluation of large centrifugal compressor impellers before remanufacturing.

Engineering Management Problems of Remanufacturing Industry

摘要: Remanufacturing in China is still in its early stage and faces pressures from society, policy, technology and management. Considering the current state of remanufacturing in China, this paper researched several key management issues involving various aspects from the perspective of remanufacturing players. Based on a needs analysis on the trend of remanufacturing development in China, the following six key management problems were researched; risk management of remanufacturing players, remanufacturing production management, remanufacturing quality management, authentication mode of remanufacturing in China, subsidy policy of remanufacturing industry, and performance assessment of remanufacturing. The characteristics of issues were analyzed and the corresponding countermeasures were put forward.

Optimization of remanufacturing process routes oriented toward eco-efficiency

摘要: Remanufacturing route optimization is crucial in remanufacturing production because it exerts a considerable impact on the eco-efficiency (i.e., the best link between economic and environmental benefits) of remanufacturing. Therefore, an optimization model for remanufacturing process routes oriented toward eco-efficiency is proposed. In this model, fault tree analysis is used to extract the characteristic factors of used products. The ICAM definition method is utilized to design alternative remanufacturing process routes for the used products. Afterward, an eco-efficiency objective function model is established, and simulated annealing (SA) particle swarm optimization (PSO) is applied to select the manufacturing process route with the best eco-efficiency. The proposed model is then applied to the remanufacturing of a used helical cylindrical gear, and optimization of the remanufacturing process route is realized by MATLAB programming. The proposed model’s feasibility is verified by comparing the model’s performance with that of standard SA and PSO.

Pricing and production strategies in remanufacturing from the perspectives of supply chain: Review and

摘要: Remanufacturing is widely recognized as beneficial to the environment and a circular economy. However, remanufacturing is more complex than traditional manufacturing due to the effects of government policy, uncertainty of consumer preferences, competition and cooperation among firms, and so on. These factors motivate academics to optimize remanufacturing outcomes, especially for product pricing and production. This study reviews the published literature on pricing and production strategies in remanufacturing from four perspectives of supply chain, namely, government policy, consumer characteristics, relationships among firms, and supply chain structures. Review results can benefit scholars/practitioners in the future by highlighting the challenges and opportunities in remanufacturing strategies.

Green Remanufacturing Engineering and Its Development Strategy in China

摘要: proposes that “develop the remanufacturing industry vigorously, implement high-end remanufacturing, smart remanufacturing, and in-service remanufacturing, advance the identification of remanufacturing products, and promote sustainable and healthy development of the manufacturing industry”. Remanufacturing is an extension of the manufacturing industry chain, and it is an important part of advanced manufacturing and green manufacturing. The product function, technical performance, greenness and economy of the remanufacturing products are no worse than those of the new products. The cost of remanufacturing products is only about 50% of new products. Remanufacturing can save energy 60%, and material 70%, so the adverse impact on the environment is significantly reduced. At present, China’s remanufacturing industry is developing rapidly, and the manufacturing pilot has been in full swing. Meanwhile, the policies and regulations, basic theory, key technology, and industry standards of remanufacturing have been continuously innovated and completed.

摘要:

激光再制造技术作为制造技术创新的前沿领域,深刻改变着高端装备的设计与运行方式,是绿色再制造的重要支撑技术,是促进制造产业可持续发展的重要力量。本文从激光再制造技术的宏观需求入手,梳理了激光再制造技术的发展及应用现状,凝练了激光再制造技术和产业在发展过程中面临的挑战,进而提出了面向2025 年、2035 年以及2050 年的分阶段发展目标。针对当前我国激光再制造技术在专用材料、核心器件、再制造理念与标准体系等方面存在的问题与挑战,研究提出:加强战略层面的积极引导;构建激光增材再制造材料基因组体系;完善标准化体系和高层次应用型人才培养体系;加大应用推广力度,引导行业整合;建立合作平台,加快关键共性技术创新发展,为激光再制造技术及其产业发展提供支撑。

摘要: In this paper, an application mode and method of knowledge management in remanufacturing engineering management is established based on Nonaka’s SECI model. The relationships between knowledge transfer, knowledge sharing and remanufacturing engineering management are highlighted. It is noticeable that a great deal of knowledge transfer and sharing activities, which can improve the performance of remanufacturing engineering management constantly, are involved in remanufacturing engineering.
